A friendly letter to beauty pageants organizers: Beach wears should remain at the beach!

I'm writing this letter to you for kind consideration in the production of your subsequent event.

First of all, let me congratulate you and your hardworking team for contributing enormously to the growth and existence of beauty pageants in Ghana and Africa at large. I should have been physically present to tap your shoulders. You are worth it.

However have observed something for the past two years and gradually it is getting some kind of attention. That’s the introduction of 'Beach Wear’ into your contest.

I don’t want to be a hypocrite. We all love things that are sexually explicit. Sometimes my libido gets annoyed when i try to control it. But nakedness and nudity we all know is culturally unaccepted in public.
Our local beauty pageants are events with purpose.

Over the years, you have made us understand that they are basically  meant to select  a beauty with brain  who  will  serve as  a front liner  in  tackling a peculiar  societal challenge. But now things have changed. But i ask; should somebody strip half naked to prove her level of intelligence?

I have not yet come across any clause in the Ghanaian constitution that declares nudity and nakedness in the public illegal. But let’s adore and respect culture.

The West loves Bikini and that’s them. Let’s keep our identity. The Ghanaian woman is equally blessed and already beautiful.

Former beauty queens and parents have expressed their displeasure because beach wear segments are now televised. The Ghanaian woman now goes half naked on public television during the day when the kids are even home watching.

We already have a huge problem of young girls and   women walking in public with protruded breasts glowing like my forehead. Young ladies posing nude and almost naked in music  videos .

What kind of moral lesson are we teaching our next generation? Should we practice anything in the name of fashion?

Let’s focus on teaching and training these young girls  how to become vibrant  and dynamic entrepreneurs who can equally compete with their counterpart from the other side of the globe if truly we want to breed a good generation of intellectuals who will be beginning to the end of our problems as a nation and continent at large.

I can directly link the alarming rate of rape and defilement in our country to this .Nobody is seems to be worried about it. Institutions are not monitoring because they are also in bed with each other. The moral standard of our nation keeps declining.

This is my problem and I believe it is somebody's problem too. But so far as it is not a disease, it can be considered.

As I suggested earlier lets focus on building the intellectual capacity of these contestants so that their views can be a remedy to societal problems. The beach wears should remain at the beach. Ladies, kindly reserve your charming body for you and your partner

Thanks for reading my letter and i hope you will consider it as well.
