Sex Can Make You Smarter

Recent studies indicate that if you’re looking
to get smarter, you should ramp up your sex
life (via The Atlantic).

Researchers at the
University of Maryland and Konkuk
University in Seoul, South Korea found (in
separate studies) that sex positively impacted
the brains of rats and mice. Well, sex
combats stress, which negatively affects the
way the brain functions, so although sex
isn’t actively increasing intelligence, it is
preventing stress from decreasing
intelligence.

In other words, although sex
can lead to a healthy brain, if you want that
4.0 GPA you still have to do all the boring
lame stuff like study.

Top musician fights music pirates

One of Ghana’s top highlife musicians whose music is
being sold on the market without his approval, has
warned that his outfit will soon deal drastically with
all those involved in the illegal distributing of his
music.

The highlife music icon, Abrantie Amakye Dede, wept
over the rate at which music was being pirated in
the country and disclosed that for the past years,
his musical works had been sold on the local and
international music markets and online without his
approval.

Speaking to BEATWAVES in an interview yesterday,
the evergreen highlife musicians described pirates as
thieves, and nation wreckers, and therefore called
for an effective and rapid legal system in the
country to deal with them.

“I have to make things uncomfortable for the
pirates who are depriving Ghanaian musicians from
making ends meet. We will chase them out of their
hideouts very soon. We will use all available means to
uproot them and destroy their criminal operations,”
he declared.
He added that “it is time for all forms of piracy to
be dealt a lethal blow. Pirates must be jailed.

I call
on all Ghanaians to expose their illegal activities in
the supreme interest of the country.
“Piracy has not only decimated Ghana’s music
industry, but has impoverished its creators and
deprived government of legitimate tax revenue.”
According to him, measures were being put in place
by his management team to check the activities of
those pirating his musical works, adding that he
would wage an intensive war against those behind the
illegal sale and distribution of his musical works.

He asked music sellers and distributors in the
country who want to do business with his music to
contact him personally or his management.

Abrantie stated that he had not authorized any
company such Mega Star or any group of persons to
distribute and sell his musical works on his behalf.

Did you know Ghana's Samuel Bravo was contracted to put Michael Jackson's book "The Redemption" in a movie?

Samuel Bravo, a Ghanaian actor and film-maker, is to partner with Geraldine Hughes, the author of Redemption: Michael Jackson's Childhood Molestation Allegations.

Geraldine Hughes comes forth to set the record straight about what really happened behind the scenes in the 1993 child molestation case against Michael Jackson. In Redemption: The Truth Behind the Michael Jackson Child Molestation Allegations, Hughes reveals facts that have never been made public, court documented information, public statements and records that she insists prove Jackson’s innocence.

The chapters unfold by revealing the key players, highlighting the events leading up to the allegation and giving a thorough description of the legal activities that led Jackson’s attorney to settle the case. Redemption is a modern-day mystery that requires a chapter-by-chapter unfolding for all the facts to be known and to redeem an innocent man’s character from the cloud of guilt that has been hanging over his head since 1993. Justice can only be served after the truth is told.

Early yesterday, the actor was contacted after receiving the blessings of Michaels's parents, and the Jackson 5, to put the book in a movie. The movie which is $15 million dollar worth is to be produced by Samuel Bravo himself and Geraldine, to be started in October.

Samuel Bravo has starred in movies like Stuck In,John 3:16 among others.

Other DJs should be given the opportunity to display

Too much of everything, they say is bad which
practically nobody disagrees.

So is a career without
the contributions and support of other knowledgeable
persons, will be a one-man business and only develop
to his or her favor which exactly is going on in with
the DJs in Ghana.

Talk of DJs/Turntablers in Ghana, there is quite a
huge number of them but how many of them do we
see billed to play on big shows except for DJ Black
aka Tumtum who is always made the headlined DJ on
such shows.

One may conclude that ‘wo ton wo yare a, na wo nya
ho eduro’ (when you discuss your problem with
people, you are likely to gain solutions to them) but
in the case of our DJs, we always hear them play on
Radio and in Nite Clubs; do we say they are not good
and marketable enough to play on such shows?

Indeed DJ Black has worked tirelessly to create a
niche for himself onto the DJ Maps across Africa
and beyond therefore gains more gigs to play on but
then again, what happens to DJs the public, media
and event organizers know are very good as well yet
never gets to be billed to play such on such shows
except for our one and only DJ Black?
Undergoing a thorough ‘ground-works’ in some Nite
Clubs, Radio as well as Mobile DJs in the industry, it
revealed quite an interesting number of Turntablers
names who can very well be compared to DJ Black in
terms of mixes although they all have their
specialties which included Killa Fingers, DJ Perfekt,
DJ Minor, DJ Advicer, DJ Mic Smith, DJ Slim, DJ
Yellow man, DJ Wobeti, DJ Master J, DJ Mensah, DJ
Champagne, DJ Abrantie, DJ Vision and DJ Kess.

And
Oh! DJ Lalu, a few to mention.
Yet all these DJs never get the chance to display
their in-depth talent on major events organized in
the country. Well, one may conclude that the rest
are not putting in much efforts to complete their
‘home works’ nonetheless we sit back and appraise
them for playing good mixes at their respective
stations and further ask for their names.

If not for God’s intervention that Mercury Republic,
organizers of Ghana DJ Awards came up with such a
brilliant concept to reward DJs for their ‘highlight
contributions they have made to the music
distribution & promotion by playing on radio,
endorsing & putting songs out to be enjoyed by the
masses’, who would have made it a point to reward
them although the award ceremony had its own
hitches during its maiden edition?
DJ Black is undoubtedly Ghana’s finest DJ and the
Top role model to most DJs but will he have done this
without some of these DJs finding interest in
pursuing Disc Jockey (DJ) as a career or a hobby?

It is high time these DJs also come out of their shells
and market their brands so as to enable event
organizers bill them on their shows.

My Dad opened the way to my stardom - Rahim Banda

Ghana's star-kid Rahim Banda has confessed that it
was his dad whom opened the way to stardom to him.

Rahim told CMN that though he had interest in
acting, never knew it could land him this far except
for his dad. He owes his dad for all the favour done
him. In case you don't know his dad, he's Mr. Ahmed
Banda, CEO of Bandex Production.
Roughly three years ago Rahim started his acting
career. He happened to be the youngest actor of
the luminary. Furthermore, he was able to pick his
first award at age 12 with the movie "Wipe my
Tears" as Best Actor in a Supporting Role category
amidst nominations in other categories as well. An
earlier claims has said that he has prospects of
picking the Best Actor category one day.

Despite, the industry posed some defects at the
preliminary stages. He was shrouded with nervity
while shooting his debut "Masters of the Game". He
described it as very "scarry and challenging".

Onwards, he was able to tune in his artistic skills and
made execution of roles in movies including: Behind
the Mask, Jimmy, Isha, John Obama among others.

Moreover, he had also stated his movie making
career is no threat to his education since he shoots
only on vacations. Most of his movies come from his
dad's Bandex Production. Also turns down other
movie offers from other producers, for the sake of
education.

Upon asking him about how it feels to be a star, he
proudly exclaims "well, all attention is given to you.

It all depends on how you take it". When one becomes
a star or public eye, he/she is expected to be
disciplined, courteous and infact possess all the good
qualities of life since everyone looks up to you.

In his latter message to his fans, he had urged all to
take education seriously and "always believe in your
dream. Education is key dream for all" - he stated.

Are Jackie Appiah and Bobby Obodo dating?

There is no official confirmation yet to reports that
Jackie Appiah is no longer married to Peter
Agyeman, but speculations are that she is going out
with Canadian-based Nigerian actor, Bobby Obodo.

Jackie and Bobby were often seen together at public
events, but when news started making rounds that
they were secretly dating, they stopped appearing in
public until they were again spotted together at the
Ghana Movie Awards.
Bobby arrived at the Accra International Conference
Center the same time as Jackie Appiah.

Few minutes
later they were talking as they headed towards the
entrance of the foyer with other members of their
entourage.

However, they sat far away from each other in the
main auditorium where the event took place.

Jackie had earlier on denied dating Bobby after
rumours went viral.
“He is simply a colleague and there is no truth in
the allegation that we are dating.

It’s false!
Because people see us together does not mean we
are romantically inclined. It is just a figment of
some people’s imagination. Some people are up to
mischief. Controversies no longer get to me. I have
outgrown many things,” she reportedly denied their
alleged romantic affairs.

“That is my private life. I don’t go personal when
granting interviews but I am a mother,” she also said
about her marriage.

Drake And A$AP Rocky Shoot 'Wu-Tang Forever' Remix Video

Catch some behind the scenes action from when
Drake and A$AP hooked up on a video shoot for
Drake's 'Wu-Tang Forever' Remix.
Late last year came confirmation from Drake
himself that a 'Wu-Tang Forever' remix was on the
way.

The bad news is that the audio is yet to
surface, but the good news is that we now also
have confirmation that there will be an
accompanying video.

Yesterday a Noisey journalist snuck in to the shoot
where Drake was spotted filming the video to the
remix alongside A$AP Rocky in Harlem, New York.

He may have been left out of the original, but
hopefully this means we can expect to hear from A
$AP on the remix. There are also rumours flying
that the Wu-Tang clan were on the set themselves,
although we're yet to see the pictures to prove it.

It's unclear exactly what the video will feature,
although an Instagram video caught Drizzy just
before 'action' alongside a group of ladies posing
and dressed in red jackets.
