Judge rules Chris Brown DOES NOT have to go to jail for violating his probation

Judge likes the progress singer is making in anger management.

Rehabilitation has been going so well for Chris Brown it's going to keep him out of jail for the time being.

A motion by L.A. prosecutors to send
the 24-year-old singer to jail for violating his probation after a misdemeanor assault charge in Washington, D.C., was denied by a judge, Monday (Feb. 3), the Associated Press reports.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James Brandlin ruled that Brown was better off completing his 90-day sentence in anger management rehab rather than going to jail for violating the terms of his probation from the 2009 assault on then- girlfriend Rihanna.

Prosecutors were calling for the "Don't Judge Me" crooner to be jailed immediately following the hearing on Monday, but Judge Brandlin, who had previously revoked the singer's probation in December, was satisfied with the progress Brown was making in a California rehab facility.

Brown's lawyer Mark Geragos remains confident that the D.C. case, in which his client is accused of attacking a man outside the W Hotel, will be resolved soon.

The music star rejected a plea deal in January and is scheduled to appear in a D.C. court later this month .
