Jove Kente – Ghana’s next big thing in music.

They say that some of the best music ever created has its roots in tragedy and misfortune: pain is the fuel that drives our creative minds to produce brilliant works of art, the kind that connects deep to the core and resonates with the soul. Rap artist Jove Kente fits this paradigm: his rough upbringing and distressed past has only fanned the fire of his ambitions, offering the proper ingredients for an illustrious music career.
“My father left when I was about two years old and I still don’t know what he looks like,” he explains. “I lived with my mother until I was about six, then she had to travel outside the country to make ends meet for me and my two siblings.”
Born in Ghana, Africa and raised in the U.S, Jove was forced to attend boarding school throughout his childhood, Kente often found himself the subject of abuse. “I always had to defend myself,” he says. “I found myself through music and since then I have never let go.”
Under the influence of artists like Nas, Big Daddy Kane, Tupac, Reggie Rockstone, Big L and Fugees, Kente began dissecting and analyzing their songs at the age of 10. “I wanted to escape my climate so badly that by the age of 12, I walked into a professional studio to record my first song.”
Currently residing in Alexandria, Virginia, Jove Kente’s music career has been on the up. In the past two years he’s released a pair of mixtapes, and he recently completed work on his debut single “She Go Kill Me” under an EP titled #Do Or Die, which is set for release this year.
“I want people to forget about the hardships in life, even if it’s just for a moment. Music saved me from what could have been, and I hope my music can do the same for others.”

Meet Venunye – Ghanaian musician on the rise.


Venunye is a Ghanaian born Musician who hails from Ho the Volta regional capital. Born Teku Venunye Koku on the 14th of September, 1988. He developed the love for music since infancy and has always wished to develop  music as his career in the future. Through hard work and consistency, he is living his dream now as an independent artiste who is mastering his skill as a recording and performing artiste.
The growing vocalist started his basic education at Dora Memorial School Complex in Ho and completed at Jasico Demonstration School in 2003 at Jasikan . After secondary school education in 2006 at Awudome he continued to Mount Mary Collage of Education Somanya where he earned Diploma in French Education in 2011. He graduated from Valley View University with a degree in English in 2016.
Venunye in his quest for excellence and recognition on the music scene in Ghana and beyond has auditioned in 2013 for GLO X – factor singing reality show that was held in Nigeria. He came 40 out of the 15000 contestants. He subsequently auditioned for the MTN Hit maker show in 2015 and was among the top 16 people that was initially selected for the contest.
He is currently promoting his singles and getting familiar with the music fraternity out there through shows and radio appearance in the Volta region and beyond. He has an ultimate dream of tackling some of society’s serious challenges through the power of music.

Meet Ghanaian Gospel Musician Ewura Abena




Mrs. Vida Ewura Abena Yeboah is dynamic gospel minstrel from Ghana who was born in Takoradi, the Capital City of Ghana’s Western Region, to Rev Prince & Mrs. Mary Ohene –Asare. She is the 5th of 6 children, 5 girls and a boy.

Ewura Abena schooled at Anaji Estate Key Primary school, then to Asamankese Wesley Methodist School [from class 5 up to JSS]. She then continued at Abuakwa State College, where she was Assistant Girls School Prefect and PENSA Singers leader. Later, she enrolled at Ghana Institute of Journalism.

To broaden her horizon some more, she pursued Human Resource Management courses online at Cambridge Int. College, London.

She is very passionate about   music and started singing at a very tender age but commercially released her debut album ‘Kamakama’ in April, 2009 under the management of Nacy Recordz. Songs off her second album ‘Eye’ released August,2014 under her EA Multimedia Limited are doing well and enjoying massive air play nationwide coupled with great performances on Musical charts. Her energy and good songs catapulted her into stardom with numerous appearances at events countrywide.

She admires great and powerful musicians like Shirley Cesaer, Amy Newman, Daughters of Glorious Jesus and Mary Ghansah. In life her sole role model is CHRIST because Paul admonishes all to emulate Christ.

Ewura Abena’s songs are basically Gospel in the sense that she talks about God and his blessings upon humanity. “I want my songs to touch souls that are depressed and give them enough hope to be strong face difficult times,”

Gospel musician shares her thought on VGMAs eliminating ‘Gospel Album of the year ‘category.





Charterhouse Ghana, the organizers of the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards in a press conference yesterday in Accra stated categorically that they have not included ‘Gospel Album of the Year’ category in this year’s awards because in the year under review, not many albums were released, thus not advisable for its inclusion.
However, commenting on the issue Gospel songstress Ewura Abena popularly known for her hit song ‘Agye Me Nkwa’ featuring Nacee said most Gospel musicians just like any other musician  in Ghana last year faced many production challenges including ‘dumsor’ and general economic hardship.
She further added that most Gospel musicians just like her, record their albums live and that fueling a plant or generator to fast track production comes at a higher cost.
Ewura Abena who is currently in the studio recording her third album suggested that the organizers should be considerate on such issues when they come up in the future.
She also encouraged her colleagues in the ministry to keep doing the sacrificial job they are doing for humanity.

Gallaxy starts 2016 with ‘Papa Bi’ music video


Harbour City Recordz has finally released ‘Papa Bi’ music video performed by Highlife and Afrobeat music group Gallaxy. ‘Papa Bi’   premiered on a live tv show ‘Rhythms’ hosted  by Berla Mundi on Gh One Tv  on 28th January,2016 is the groups seventh but first video  released in 2016 to official commence  their work for the year.

The video directed by Brian Ohene did not only show Gallaxy’s simple but rich African costume and versatility but also show case some parts of Ghana that hardly come on our TV screens.

"Wisa Greid Got Carried Away" – Kofi Kinaata




The Susuka hitmaker on what inspires him on stage while performing says “the wild reaction from the fans anytime he steps on stage gets him hyper to deliver more. And also gives him the challenge to put in more work so the fans can appreciate him more.” 

In situations where the crowd are not somewhat responsive while he is on stage, Kofi Kinaata says “that also pushed him further to engage the crowd closer – it could be that it’s the first time they’re seeing him perform and are skeptic so he makes sure he gives his best to nail it and win more fanbase anytime he meets a totally new crowd from the stage.”  

 In a witty remark, Kofi Kinaata says “Wisa was carried away. He was overjoyed by the reception the crowd gave him on that first big stage he had. We don’t have to blame him. Sometimes the reception you get from fans can make you go to the extremes. The brother was overwhelmed to the extent that he forgot himself at that moment and did that.”  

Kofi Kinaata is known for witty comments on interviews and in his music. Nonetheless, he writes impeccable Fante, deep and rich lyrics for his songs. It is no doubt his fans call him the #FanteRapgod. Even though he is not the first Fante Rapper in Ghana, he has proved a lot on the sheets within this short period he shot into the limelight that his fans bestow that monicker on him.  

Kofi Kinaata has been very busy on the road for the past week promoting his new single Sweetie Pie, a love song he’s done purposely to wow the females – and he’s achieving that a lot.  On his TV interview with Ibrahim Ben-Bako, host of #TheRedCarpet on Multi TV, most of the fans who called in were 70% females who sang live on air to his new song #SweetiePie and his nationwide hit single, Susuka.

Beat Phreaks, a brand that constantly puts the spotlight on people with extraordinary musical talent are back at it! As part of their mission to champion some of the brightest acts on the local and international scene, they are showcasing an amazing lineup of Musical Talent on Saturday the 20th of February 2016. This festival is dubbed Phreak Out Live.
The organizers of the event have recognized a thirst for something different: A common-ground where serious music fans and fanatics (Beat Phreaks) get together to express that love for music and the excitement that goes with discovering new artistes or genres of music and not just what is fed to them via radio.
Phreak Out Live is creating that necessary platform where DJs, Producers, Dancers and Artistes can showcase their craft live and allow music lovers to interact and appreciate each art-form better.
The event is set to be a major annual festival. The first edition of Phreak Out Live was nothing short of enthralling with acts like Wanlov a brilliant artiste and performer, and Azizaa an energetic female dubstep musician, amongst others, delivering breath-taking performances which set the standard for future editions of the event.
With a lineup of dope DJs and performers as well as an amazing band called the Musical Lunatics, doling out an eclectic mix of Electronic and Alternative music, the first edition of Phreak Out Live was one of the most musically relevant events last year.
This time, they are upping the stakes. This year’s edition of the festival is divided into two parts:
The Music Concert.
This would happen from 8pm to 10:30pm at Alliance Française Accra and will showcase really amazing Indie acts such as Ghanaian Budapest based artiste Sena Dagadu of Irie Maffia who is bringing an eclectic mix of Electronic/Tropical music, alongside some of the most brilliant young artistes in the local scene Worlasi, Poetra, Yung Pabi, Quayba, Kojo-Cue, King Promise amongst others who are setting the standard with their socially relevant music and great young producers such as Kuvie who are challenging the status quo with their work!
The Electronic Music Rave:
This is dubbed “Electric Warehouse” and would feature some of the best Electronic Music DJs in and out of the country at Plot 7 lounge in Osu. The Funky Professor Kobby Graham alongside Eddy Blay, Keyzuz and more will be bringing a heavy dose of bass and blasting out the best Dubstep, Drum n Bass, Grime, and House Music vibes from 11pm till late! The rave would also give festival goers the opportunity to meet and interact with artistes from the concert. If you have never been to a warehouse rave, you shouldn’t miss this experience!

‘The Write Experience’ is back!


Last year, THE WRITE EXPERIENCE had a strong message about the essence of appreciating our environment through a fusion of poetry, live jazz music, graffiti and contemporary dance. By popular demand, Inkfluent brings you the second edition, dubbed: “Healing Handicapped Homes”.

The event explores how art can be used as a tool to heal and keep us aware in the midst of society’s drag. This is another kwame write concept composed of an animated collage of film, poetry, live music and contemporary dance featuring a collaboration with artist Serge Attukwei and performances by Rewrite Crew, Jude Kurankyi, poets from Burkina Faso, Togo and Benin, as well as a live music session by Humble International Band (an extraordinarily talented team of persons with blindness) aside a few surprises.

The fusion is based on Africa’s intrinsic visual and oral context and the dynamism of body, action, space, time and energy, also using technology as an innovative means to explore the realities of displacement due to natural or artificial effects. The result subtly creates the awareness of fragility of existence and the concrete belief in transformation when a collective of broken societies merge.

THE WRITE EXPERIENCE is a long-term project aimed at bringing together artists from different parts of Africa for cultural exchange and social activism; reflecting on the Scramble for Africa (the artificial drawing made among European powers which started with the Berlin Conference of 1884–85) and its after-effects due to the creation of African political boundaries. We combine history and trajectory of contemporary experimental forms mixing local, anglophone and francophone dialects.

This particular edition remarkably involves persons with disabilities in performances to express individuality and the limitless healing abilities of the human touch. Even as a continent, made up of independent but handicapped bits, how does our connectedness aid our growth?

After touring many European festivals, King Ayisoba, the widely acclaimed "King of Kologo Music" brings the second edition of the Batakari Night to Alliance Francaise. The musician is currently one of the most popular Ghanaian artists abroad.

 Batakari Night will feature some of Ghana's leading Kologo players and special guest appearances from Wanlov the Kubolor, Kwaw Kese, Stevo Atambire,Yaa Pono and Zea (from Holland) with whom King Ayisoba has worked extensively. Everyone is encouraged to wear Batakari, as it is one of the few wholly locally produced fabrics in use today.

Alliance Française Accra presents the first screening ever in Ghana of the film titled HUMAN, produced by Filmmaker and artist ; Yann Arthus-Bertrand


Filmmaker and artist Yann Arthus-Bertrand spent 3 years collecting real-life emotional stories from more than 2,000 women and men in 60 countries. Those emotions, those tears and smiles, those struggles and those laughs are the ones uniting us all.

Following the global success of HOME (2009), which was seen by more than 600,000 million people, award-winning filmmaker Yann Arthus-Bertrand produced yet another stimulating film and called it HUMAN. Working with a dedicated team of translators, journalists and cameramen, Arthus-Bertrand spent three years collecting real-life stories from 2,020 women and men in 60 countries and 63 languages. These profoundly personal and emotional accounts are interspersed with stunning aerial footage that offers critical insight into life on earth. More than a film, HUMAN’s narratively high reaching project consists in the experience of an immersive and inspirational odyssey, a movement to encourage reflection on the human condition, ignite a conversation around the meaning of our existence, and empower people to make social change.

From freedom fighters in Ukraine, to farmers in Mali, to death row inmates in the United States, HUMAN offers a significantly emotional and essential fresh documentation and portrait of our human condition in global and contemporary society, questioning the challenges our civilization faces.

The United Nations on September 12th, 2015 chose to premier the film in honor of the 70th anniversary of the United Nation General Assembly. On the same day, the film was screened at the Venice Film Festival while Google release special and exclusive content on their homepage.

And for the first time it will be showing in Ghana by Alliance Française Accra for the general public to enjoy this insightful film that will keep as thinking of our very own existence as humans and why we behave the way we do.

Financed by the Bettencourt Schueller Foundation, HUMAN, the multimedia project, which includes a full-length feature and a variety of special content, will have its first and only screening in Ghana.

The event will take place on Friday 22nd January, 2015 at Alliance Française Accra at 6:30pm. Film screened on large screen in the Amphitheatre (outdoor)

Kwesi Dav of Gallaxy fame to start a full time tv program soon


Ghanaian music group Gallaxy has over the years showcased their prowess when it comes to music by consistently releasing commercial hit songs. But there are other hidden talents of theirs that you may not know of and it is about time they showed the world how versatile they are on the other side related to the arts.

After reading news on the Topsy Turvy edition of ‘Adom Kase3’ on Adom TV on National Farmers day last week, the vocalist has since expressed interest in going into full time TV broadcasting besides music.

According to Kwesi Dav who is also the lead singer of the group, he has always wished to be a radio presenter and a television host but don’t know how to start with it and feels co-hosting a prime time program  with Bra Chiky on a holiday is a clear indication he can start.
Even though he is not sure of when to start, he added he will consult his other half and management about the decision before approaching any station for employment in the days to come.

4syte Tv Music Awards: Minister Rapture hopeful of winning ‘Best Gospel Video’ of the year.


Magma Entertainment signed Gospel artiste Minister Rapture has secured a slot in this year’s 4syte Tv Music Awards with his Baba Music Video directed by Lex McCarthy.

Minister Rapture who shared his excitement and gratitude about the nomination extended his gratitude to management team and everybody who believed in his dream. “God has seen me through and this is just the beginning of my entire journey and talking about the MVAs, I’m  optimistic of winning because the video is beyond standard, management did a lot of works and the masses has recognized it so winning the award is a cool treaty” he added.

The 4syte Tv Music Awards is schedule for the 14th of November 2015 at the Accra International Conference Centre. He will be battling the category with Kings Kid, John Winner, Joyce Blessing, Obaa Christy and Francis Amo

Keche: We Are Disappointed In Praye


Hiplife recording duo, Keche have emotional expressed their displeasure regarding the split of what used to be one of Hiplife’s vibrant music groups Praye.
The duo, made up of Andrew and Joshua made this revelation during their latest interview on StarrFM’s ‘Club Arena’ segment hosted by Bianca Buckman and Nii Ayi Tagoe.
Keche said most of the music groups they idolized growing up have in one way or the other separated, which inspiration wise has affected their career.

‘’As young and upcoming musicians, we felt it was important to look up to the ones who were already doing it big like Praye and their sudden separation really killed our vim’’, Joshua stated.
The other half of Keche, Andrew also said ‘’It got to a time hiplife groups was the ‘ish’ in Ghana; then sadly the split trend began, way back from VIP (now VVIP) to Sass Squad who also broke up and formed TH4 Kwages to Akyeame who eventually went solo to Wutah’s separation and the exciting trio Praye, made up of Choir Master, Big J Cartel and Kente also splitting really dented the image of groups in Ghana.’’

Praye used to be one of the sought after music groups in Ghana and on the African continent with classic hits like ‘Ma Shody’ &‘Angelina’. The group shot into fame when they won the maiden edition of Nescafe African Revelation contest in Ghana, and went on to win the West African grand finale.

According to Keche, among the various groups, their style was more like that of Praye hence they looked up to them until the trio announced their separation.
‘’Now you can see how music groups are doing on the current music scene, the influence and euphoria that used to back them is no more. Due to the controversies that follow the split ups, fans tend to lose trust in groups these days as their separation usually cause mixed feelings’’, Keche added.

Keche went on to say music groups should be seen as a brand, emphasizing on the fact that Keche is a brand they have created for the fans.
‘’We are friends but we are more than brothers and have enjoyed our friendship for over a decade now. Even though sometimes we have our differences, we don’t let it affect the brand ‘Keche’ which has been in existence for 5years now’’, Joshua stated.

In addition, Andrew said, ‘’we pay maximum respect to the brand because that’s what represents us. Praye was one of our favorite music groups in Ghana as we were coming into the game, we enjoyed their songs, performances and their unity but  they couldn’t solve their differences or whatsoever trouble that arose among them’’.

Keche concluded their remarks by saying, ‘’unfortunately, Praye isn’t enjoying the glory days anymore even though individually they are putting out their best. Our little advice to every music group in Ghana is that you protect the brand you’ve introduced. Just like any other human institution, misunderstandings will arise but you need to be able to resort to resolving them cos the brand embodies your reputation and credibility on the mainstream scene.’’
